A CENTRE OPEN TO THE WORLD

The CRM is the joint research centre for the European iron and steel major groups and the non-ferrous metals industry of Benelux, part of its activity being also devoted to SMEs and SMIs. It has been entrusted with the mission of developing:

new products,
new processes to fabricate them, and
new surface qualities and functionalities

Numerous research projects, financed by the European Commission have led to many opportunities of co-operation with specialised European partners. From 2002 onwards, the European research is carried on with the financial support of the Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS)

The CRM is actively involved in a large-scale project aiming to reduce CO₂ emissions in the steel industry. This project has been submitted with a request for funding in the European Commission's Sixth Framework Research Programme.

The CRM researchers also regularly take part in international conferences, thus taking part in an ongoing exchange of ideas with renowned experts in the world of science and industry.
